High Altitude Tips
Take special precautions in our unique environment. Aspen is not at sea level and you are not on a surf trip.
The altitude of the town of Aspen is 8,040 feet which means that the
sun is much more intense, so use sunblock even on cloudy days to avoid
unwanted burns. Wear sunglasses or goggles to avoid sore eyes. Temperatures
and conditions can change drastically and quickly in the mountains of
Aspen, so always bring extra layers of clothing. Since the humidity is
low, you’ll
lose more body moisture from deeper breathing and increased perspiration.
Keep your body hydrated by drinking two to three times your normal intake
of water and juices. Limit your intake of alcoholic and caffeinated beverages
to prevent dehydration. Altitude increases the effects of alcohol, so
be aware of your consumption.
